I first started working out with Jennifer in January after seeing a picture of myself post holiday gluttony and realizing I didn't like what I was seeing. After my first few sessions, it felt like I had been totally beaten up but didn't have the bruises to show for it. Working with her twice a week for 3 months actually converted me into a person who enjoys going to the gym. She is great at changing up our workouts, and I leave knowing I have worked hard but have seen the results. After my initial 12 sessions, I was so sad to think I wouldn't work with her anymore that I re-upped for another 12. In the second group of sessions, she has turned up the volume on our workouts, and is utilizing a lot of the same exercises that they do in the Bootcamp as well. I just finished a 48 session package with Chris where we trained 3 or 4 times a week over the last four months. Chris designed a program to meet my dual goals of agility (I'm a competitive squash player), and strength. I saw good results toward both goals. And I had fun in the process - Chris keeps the workouts varied. I travel a lot, and Chris was not only responsive on tailoring his schedule to accomodate mine, but he also gave me workouts I could do on the road. So... good results, in a fun process. I’m not a gym person at all. The thought of weight rooms and grunting, muscle-bound men terrify me. In fact, the only thing that intimidates me more is a personal trainer. But like so many other people who made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, I knew I was going to have to bite the bullet and get some help in my weight-loss goals. So I signed up for a membership and gave the membership guy a wiry smile when he told me that my membership included a free session with a personal trainer.
The first time I met Jen, I couldn’t believe that someone that skinny could possibly give me a decent workout. But I bit my tongue and smiled politely when she told me what the plan was. Oh boy -- was I in for a rude awakening. After our introductory workout, I couldn’t walk for two days and it took a solid week before I could take a deep breath in without crying. She took the time to explain to me what she wanted me to do, and more importantly, why she wanted me to do it. She made the workout fun by mixing up normal exercises with her own creations (“dead bugs” are shespecialty). She also knew when to push me harder and when she needed to back off and be supportive. I knew then that Jen was the trainer that could help me achieve my weight loss goals, and I signed up for a package.
Three months later, I’m just as happy now as I was after our first session. Jen is a refreshing change from so many other personal trainers that I’ve met! she enjoys living a healthy, active lifestyle and she’s happy to share her knowledge and expertise without being intimidating or overwhelming. Our sessions are intense -she expects me to show up ready to work, and does a great job at continuously challenging me to push beyond my comfort zone. Because of her help, I’m proud to say that I’ve lost 3% of my overall body fat in just 6 weeks! Erica A- March 2011
I have worked out with Corey for 3 and one half years. Corey is a wonderful trainer. His training is thoughtful and he provides a diverse set of exercises designed to keep you out of a rut and to provide ongoing strength, endurance, and flexibility challenges. I don;t like people telling me what to do. But with Corey, I feel that we are a team. He is deceptively low-key. His easy manner belies his clear and authoritative approach to encouragement and holding you accountable for doing your best. He is able to help you celebrate and recognize your progress, while continuing to spur you to growth. He works to protect his clients from injury while pushing them to move past boundaries. He was particularly encouraging to me when I was coming back from knee surgery. We have gradually increased the difficulty of the workouts such that I have not experienced set backs in reinjuring my knee. Like so many others, I joined the gym on January 1st as a New Year's resolution and I've been working out with Jennifer ever since. Within only a few weeks, I began noticing results, and now I'm feeling much more confident (and dare I say excited) for bathing suit season! Jennifer makes the sessions fun and interesting. She never has me doing the same routine, and she is conscious to change up the workouts to ensure I'm targeting all muscle groups. She will push you to your limit, but always with a smile on her face. Working with Jennifer was a great introduction to personal training. She made me feel comfortable straight from the get go, all the way from the initial consultation to our sessions. We talked about where I was in my exercising program, or my lack of a program! She asked about what my goals were and also what I enjoyed and disliked. During our sessions, she worked me from head to toe since I wanted an overall body toning and I really felt it! At the CAC, I really enjoyed the weight lifting Body Pump classes, but was more sore after a session with Jennifer! Another one of my goals was to increase my mileage and speed while running. Jennifer worked with me on the treadmill and really pushed me to a speed I have never attained before. Besides the usually work on the treadmill and weight machines, we worked with other equipments, like the bosu and kettle bells, which gave a nice variety to our sessions. Overall, I liked the variety of sessions she planned for me and felt that she pushed me when I needed it. Moving to a new city is tough, but finding a new gym, *and* a new personal trainer, is tougher. Moving to Boston three years ago from New Jersey, I was very lucky to find Corey. There are many days when training with him is the absolute highlight of my day. Ask yourself. Of all the different people in your life, how many of them are not just really good at what they do, but genuinely care about helping you to achieve your goals? Corey is one of them. After running about 20 miles a week for 15 years, I wanted to find a workout that would use different parts of my body to get in better shape. I had never really considered working out with a trainer, but thought I would try it for something different. The workouts with Jennifer have exceeded my expectations; they are harder than I imagined and Jennifer really knows her stuff. The workouts include exercises I have never done before and they work parts of my body that have not been used for years. Each workout is more difficult than the previous one and Jennifer always adds some new exercises each session which push you beyond what you thought you could do. The workouts fly by, they are focused, exhausting and fun. I now have a set of new exercises that I can do on my own that I know will translate into a great workout.
