Change is in the air at CAC

If a visitor came to CAC in 2008 and then walked into the gym today, they might not recognize the place because so many renovations were done in the past year.

David LeeNow we've got beautiful locker rooms and a spacious group exercise studio. Next we will have the CAC express opening up in the fall. The changes aren't quite finished. Get ready for one more change coming to CAC.

What else is changing? The group exercise schedule at CAC will be getting a face lift.  Get ready to see new classes added to the schedule this fall, such as Zumba, Turbokick, Body Pump and RPM.

For those of you who don't take group exercise classes on a regular basis, let me try to explain to you what this type of announcement feels like for regular group exercise participants (not just at CAC, but at any gym).  Imagine you have a cell phone you absolutely LOVE. Everyday you use it to talk, text and surf the internet. Overall, you just love it, and there isn't a thing you would change about it. Then imagine one day a police officer walks up to you and tells you to hand over your phone because you are getting a different cell phone and there's nothing you can do about it.

Most people would hate this change. In the same way, a new group exercise schedule can be upsetting. Once you get into a comfortable routine with a great instructor, there's nothing worse than discovering that the class or instructor has changed (maybe I'm being a little dramatic).

All this talk of change reminds me of a key principle in fitness - if you want to see your fitness level improve then you must constantly change your fitness routine. Have you been doing the same Richard Simmons richard simmonsaerobic routine since 1985? I hate to break it to you, but you've got to try something new (as well as possibly buy some new gym clothes).

I can't guarantee that everyone will be happy about the changes, but I can guarantee that your fitness levels will improve as you try something new. It's time to box up your Jane Fonda and Jazzercise videos and head over to CAC!
